Announcement - ISC 2010 student volunteer apps due

Student volunteer applications for International Supercomputing Conference 2010 are due tomorrow.

Volunteers will receive free registration for every aspect of the conference, free meals during conference hours, and free hotel accommodations (for out-of-town volunteers only). They will also receive a copy of the conference proceedings and an ISC’10 shirt.

In return, volunteers will be asked to work a minimum of 25 hours total either before and/or during the conference. Duties before the conference (from 27-30 May 2010) will include such tasks as technical support to ISCnet Network Team, arranging the conference area, and other similar tasks. Duties during the conference (30 May – 3 June 2010) will include such tasks as monitoring entrance to sessions, assisting with registration, running microphones to audience members for questions, checking badges for entry to events, technical support to ISCnet Network Team, and other similar tasks.

ISC’10 will take place 30 May – 3 June 2010 in Hamburg, Germany.

Application process

Applications will be accepted until 15 April 2010 and should include the following:

Short cover letter (why you want to be a student volunteer)

Contact information (name, address, country, e-mail, phone)

Date of birth

Affiliation (School, Department, Status Full-time/Part-Time)

Field of study, main course

Experience (e.g. prior volunteer activities)

Languages spoken (please include fluency: fluent/intermediate/beginner)

Name and email address of a professor who will recommend you

Special skills

Preferred task (e.g. registration, network team, monitoring entrance)

Days and times available

Accommodation needed (yes/no)

Optional a short CV (no more than one page)

Application Submission

Please send your application (preferably as a PDF) to, as well as the name and email address of a professor who will recommend you.

We will contact your professor to send us a letter of recommendation for your participation as a Student Volunteer at ISC’10.

Applications will be accepted through April 15, 2010.

All applicants will be notified end of April 2010.

If you are accepted, a valid, dated student identification card or a letter from your university or school will be required when registering at the conference.
