The MICCAI-Grid Workshop, to be held 6 September 2008 as part of MICCAI 2008, the 11th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention, is calling for papers.

MICCAI 2008 will be held from 6-10 September 2008 in New York City, U.S. MICCAI typically attracts over 600 scientists, engineers and clinicians from a wide range of disciplines associated with medical imaging and computer assisted surgery.

More on MICCAI-Grid

MICCAI-Grid will both demonstrate the current achievements of grid technologies within the medical imaging community and precisely identify the fundamental problems limiting the adoption of existing systems and methods.

The workshop also intends to stimulate the community to build new collaborations by taking advantage of the sharing capabilities of grids.

Medical image computing raises new challenges related to the scale and complexity of the required analysis. Grids provide a foundational layer that can be exploited; for example, to build patient-specific models, reduce computing time to meet clinical practice constraints, validate and optimize algorithms, or conduct collaborative studies on rare diseases.

Topics of interest

Submissions on the following topics are encouraged
• Medical image analysis application using grids
• Medical image pipelines and workflows
• Distributed and heterogeneous medical databases
• Medical data representation, structure and annotation
• Large scale and statistical studies
• Content-based retrieval and data mining
• Methods evaluation and parameter sweep studies
• Medical data visualization using grid resources
• Dedicated grid infrastructures
• Standards for exchanging data and algorithms
• Success stories and show stoppers
