 WISDOM unplugged: malaria drug-leads graduate to the wet lab

After screening one million candidates, WISDOM’s grid-powered research collaboration selected just 30 individuals to go through to the next round. Tipped to inhibit the deadly action of malaria protein plasmepsin, these 30 molecules hold hope for millions of malaria sufferers.

Called DiGS, or Distributed Grid Storage, the software is on trial at the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford, supporting an investigation into the transport and anchoring of mRNA in Drosophila flies.
