Registration is now open for the Euro-VO DCA workshop, “Grid and the Virtual Observatory”, to be held at the Max-Planck Institute in Garching, near Munich, Germany from 9-11 April 2008. Registration is free.

The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Euro-VO DCA workshop Theory in the Virtual Observatory, which takes place from 7-9 April 2008.

This workshop aims to contribute to the development of new grid-aware astronomical applications and data centers, working to build bridges between virtual observatories and standard grid infrastructures, and to encourage developers from the different fields to meet and exchange experiences and solutions.

The workshop targets three main audiences:
  • Grid and VObs developers
  • Grid and VObs users
  • Data Centers willing to adopt grid technologies
Workshop motivations include contribution to the development of:
  • Current Research advances in grid and virtual observatory systems;
  • European, national and campus e-infrastructures;
  • Applications in astronomy and other scientific fields;
  • Data and databases virtualization in e-science infrastructures;
  • Interoperability and long-term sustainability
