Registration is now open for the Open Science Grid 2008 All Hands Meeting, to be held from 3-6 March at the Renaissance Computing Institute in North Carolina, U.S.. The meeting will provide a forum for current and prospective Open Science Grid members, users, and partners to communicate, discuss and plan the work of the consortium, the project and the facility.

“2007 has been an exciting time for the Open Science Grid,” says John McGee, conference chair and OSG engagement coordinator. “We have seen a consolidation and increased use of the Open Science Grid distributed infrastructure and software for production computation by existing and new users. We have also seen the OSG activity teams form deep collaborations.”

The 2008 All Hands Meeting will focus on workshops and discussions for and among existing and new contributors to the OSG consortium: scientists, researchers, developers, administrators, partners and institutions.

Timetable

The schedule includes plenary sessions with a set of panel presentations and discussions covering OSG status and plans, science prospects, local and global cyberinfrastructures, training and communication, and other activities of which OSG is a part.  The current list of workshops includes site administration, biology applications, and the needs and status of campus and regional infrastructures.

In addition, a training session for new users will be held on 6 March, in parallel with the OSG Council meeting. Those interested in scheduling short, more focused meetings co-located with the All Hands Meeting should contact the organizers.

US ATLAS and US CMS are once again holding co-located workshops for their tiered distributed computing facilities. Registration will be common with the OSG All Hands but the agendas will be planned and posted separately. These workshops are scheduled for 3 and 4 March.
