Announcement - Call for papers: Virtualization in High-Performance Cluster and Grid Computing

The Canary Islands are an archipelago of Spain consisting of seven islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean. The Gran Canaria Island is situated in the Atlantic area of Macaronesia, some 200 kilometers from the nearest tip of the African coast and 1,250 kilometers from Cadiz, the nearest continental European port.

Paper submissions for the third Workshop on Virtualization in High-Performance Cluster and Grid Computing, are due 4 March 2008.

The workshop will be held 26-29 August 2008 as part of Euro-Par 2008 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Island, Spain.

The one-day workshop will be composed of 20 minute paper presentations, each followed by 10 minute discussion sections. Presentations may be accompanied by interactive demonstrations. The workshop will also include a 30 minute panel discussion by presenters.

Topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Virtualization in cluster and grid environments
  • Workload characterizations for VM-based clusters
  • VM cluster and grid architectures
  • Cluster reliability, fault-tolerance, and security
  • Management of system images for virtual machines
  • Integration with relevant standards e.g. CIM, GLUE, OGF, etc.
Papers submitted to each workshop will be reviewed by at least two members of the program committee and external reviewers. Submissions should include abstract, key words, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and must not exceed 10 pages, including tables and figures at a main font size no smaller than 11 point. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present the work.

Accepted papers will be published in the Springer LNCS series
