The 23rd Annual International Supercomputing Conference (ISC’08) will be held in Dresden, Germany, from 17-20 June 2008.

ISC’07 attracted a record number of participants from 47 countries and a record number of exhibitors from Europe, North America and Asia, making it the most successful ISC in conference history.

A total of 1,213 participants from industry and academia attended this year’s conference, held June 27-29 at the Congress Center in Dresden.

Attendance was up one third from last year, which also set a new attendance record. 54 percent of attendees represented industry, mainly the IT industry, and nearly 40 percent came from academia, including government laboratories and universities. Germany with 40 percent, the U.S. (22 percent) and the UK (11 percent) had the most participants; 6 percent of participants came from Asia.

The conference featured 85 exhibits (compared to 74 last year) from industry powerhouses such as IBM, Microsoft, HP and Intel, to smaller companies providing hardware, software, storage and networking solutions to research labs demonstrating the use of supercomputing in scientific discovery.

The overall size of the exhibit floor grew from 672 square meters in 2006 to 846 square meters in 2007. Even more important, 92 percent of ISC ’07 exhibitors rated the quality of their booth visitors as very satisfying or satisfying.
