As researchers reach the limits of processor performance improvements by frequency scaling, it is clear that the future of computing lies in the skillful use of parallel and multi-core architectures.

A free workshop at CERN, led by experts from Intel, will help programmers navigate the intricacies of parallel programming and learn about the most efficient solutions to common multi-threading problems.

This event, to be held May 31–June 1, will include a hands-on lab. Registration is based on a first-come first-served basis by sending e-mail to 30 seats are available for the first day and 20 seats for the second day. When registering, indicate which days you would like to attend.

Go to CERN openlab Web pages for details.
