From the archives of scientific grid computing research, this visualization of gravitational waves, computed in accordance with Einstein’s theory of General Relativity, was generated in 2001 using data analyzed using the Cactus Computational Toolkit.

Computations were run on three supercomputers at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and one at the San Diego Supercomputing Center using Globus and MPICH-G2, a grid-enabled implementation of Message Passing Interface version 1.1.
