 Caltech and TeraGrid See the Big Picture

The Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles recently unveiled a picture of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster 150-feet-wide and 18-feet-high during its grand re-opening. The “Big Picture” was created using data from the Palomar-QUEST sky surveys that were processed using TeraGrid resources.

While the Palomar-QUEST telescope is small by some standards, the survey was able to achieve the effect of a much larger telescope using grid technology.
